QUICK REFORM PROGRESS OVERVIEW

REFORM + PRECINCT TRACKER

A Member of the Nationals from Bathurst, Sam Farraway is one of the youngest Ministers of the current New South Wales Cabinet. He was sworn in as Minister for Regional Transport and Roads on 21 December 2021 with the incoming second Perrottet ministry, having been a Member of the Legislative Council since October 2019.

The Minister has an emphasised interest in business. Before entering NSW Parliament, he was president of the Bathurst Agricultural, Horticultural & Pastoral Association for over 10 years and won the Young Entrepreneur of the Year award at the Carillon Business Awards. Before this, he took over running his family’s car rental franchise at 18 years of age due to his father’s illness.

In his first speech to Parliament, he spoke about investing in critical regional infrastructure and water security, including dam construction and implementing fair rules for farmers. Farraway is expected to continue his advocacy for these matters, and is a Minister to watch for the future.
